Christmas Feast 2010

Family gatherings with the Cottrill clan is always joyous. We make sure that big holidays like Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas is celebrated at Dad's home.  Dad was a little tipsy   and he was cracking jokes while we were eating so everyone were LOL!
Jen cooked  most of the food this time since Chris  did  the Thanksgiving feast.
I can't really volunteer to cook for the whole clan since  my   cooking skills is limited  when it comes to American foods.  All I can make is  the famous lumpia hehehe.  My daughter helped me making these.
Cookies made by my SIL Chris, Michelle also brought a plate of the cookies she made for each family.
The cake  was also made by Chris.
I may prepare some food tomorrow for  the new year's eve, you're invited hehehe.  Advance happy new year guys, I wish you all the good luck in the world for the coming year!

The Moment of Truth

Here's the moment of truth to the sugar cookies that  my daughter  made.  When it comes to cookies and other sweets, the sweet tooth in the family is the ultimate judge whether it's good or not.
He was taking a nap when we made this so when he woke he exclaimed "Whoa, where did these cookies come from?"  At first I was hesitate to tell them but then I created a diversion and told him to try it out.
And the verdict "It's really good Mom!"  He puckered up when I told him that his sister and I and Dad made the cookies.  He immediately said "I want to help making out cookies too!"
So Mommy gave him a hug and said that he can help next time we make some.
These cookies were gone by now, the burrito boy loved it that he eat and eat till it's gone.
We will be out to my FIL's house the whole day today, thanks for visiting.
Merry Christmas Everyone!

Sugar Cookies

I thought that I would have more time for blogging since  the students at our home are on vacation but I was wrong.  We are busy with stuff everyday.   We made some sugar cookies last Saturday when we came home from Pittsburgh.
My SIl lent us some  cookie cutters, thanks Chris.  I am not fond of sugar cookies but it is fun to make especially for ,our burrito so we made some  just for fun.
The male burrito was sleeping when we were making the cookies so when he woke up, he did his part, tasting!  I'll share the rest of the photos  next time.

Musical Horse

My FIL had this musical horse in his  bedroom that we occupied when we were still  living at his home but he did not know about it.  So the other day, I brought it down and put it in his  end table in the living room.
I think that it is a  pretty Christmas decor, don't you think?
Unfortunately,  the music doesn't work anymore but  I still find it pretty.

Fried Chicken

I made some chicken wings for dinner tonight. We ate it with rice and coleslaw. I wasn't able to take picture of it. My kids were hungry so I let them eat right away while our baby Sophie was still sleeping.

Below is the fried chicken I made the  other week with battered  carrots and  green pepper.  I did not know that carrots tasted so good when you battered and fried it.

Romantic Gesture

Most women would agree if I say that flowers from a man you love is a very romantic gesture. am I right? How often do you receive flowers from your husband, boyfriend, or admirer? If your husband love to give you a bouquet of flowers, try to mention that ProFlowers.com bouquet page has great deals for the holidays.  It is always sweet to receive flowers isn't it?

Fish, Chicken, Cole Slaw, and more.

We bought a family meal at Long John Silver's the other day.  The combo meal includes fish, chicken, hush puppies, fries, and coleslaw.
Rylie used to love coleslaw but now she isn't fond of it anymore.  I love coleslaw, I can eat   most of the time. I love the coleslaw at LJS but not the ones at Mcdo  errr KFC..

Art Inside the Potato

I made some fried potatoes at my  FIL's home the other day and the first piece of potato that I sliced  has this art inside.
Isn't nature very good in making art?
So tell me folks, is this a Chinese writing or  some kind of  symbol?   Sorry for some weird thinking out here folks hehehe.

Kubota or Rice Cake

I am guessing that rice cake is kubota in Chinese or Japanese?  I am not sure but one thing that I am sure of is that this kubota  tastes so good.   It's a little pricey but I always buy  a pack or two every time we go to the oriental store in Pittsburgh.
It is very sticky and there is a sweet filling inside.  I  always nuke it in the microwave fr about 8 seconds and it's perfectly delicious!

Pork Ribs and Jello Salad

I made that pork BBQ ribs a couple of weeks ago but forgot to post about it.  It looks a little bit dark but it wasn't burnt.
My daughter love to eat her Jello just plain but I love it with  miracle whip and some  fruits.  YUM!
