Homemade Chicken Casserole - P365 # 149

I made this chicken casserole last Sunday when we went to Raccoon Creek. It is made of rice, mushroom, green peas, and top with chicken.
May 31, 2011:
  • We are taking Champ to the Vet today for his rabies shot so that means no blogging for me.
  • On our way from the Vet, the kids wanted to  go see Pap so we dropped by there.  Then they did not want to leave  so we let them stayed.
  • We came home and  gathered all the junks we have at the backyard and some junk at our basement, loaded it up at the truck then off we went.  It's free dump day today at Brooke County  Landfill so we took the opportunity of getting rid of our  junks.
  • On our way to pick up the kids, we saw a  MINI Teesside and it was cute.
  • Since it was late for me to cook lunch, we just bought some snackers at KFC.
  • Now I can blog a little bit before I cook for dinner.  Hubby will go to school for his  first day of classes.  IT's actually a night time classes.

Clown Cookies - P365 # 148

These are the cookies during the kindergarten's closing party held at Hanover Park, PA last May 27th..
May 30, 2011:
  • Yesterday was a very busy day for us.  We went to Raccoon Park in the morning till 3.  We hiked first when we arrived then we let the kids swim in the   creek.  We drove straight to Dad's and the other family was there so the kids stayed.  Hubby and I drove to New Cumberland to get the  computer desk that my BIL has given us.  Thanks Rick and Jill!
  • Jill also gave me a bunch of flowers so when we came home, I did some gardening in front of our house till 10 in the evening.  I had a very good exercises yesterday.
  • We will be attending a memorial service here in the area at 11 so we will be out again.
  • I appreciate all your visit and comments.  I'll make it up soon!

Happy Memorial Day everyone!

Lickity Splits - P365 # 147

We saw this sign on our way to Marland Heights park last week and I couldn't resist not to take a snap.  The sign makes me smile lol.
May 29, 2011:
  • I slept with a migraine last night and woke up with it still.  I feel bad because I kept   Mr. K awake, I couldn't sleep and so is he as I kept tossing and turning.  I am a little okay now after I took two  aleve.
  • We are going to Raccoon Creek  in an hour, maybe we could  hike on the trail and let the kids swim in the creek a little bit.
  • It is going to be hot today (90 degrees at the most, according to the weather channel) so we want to enjoy this before the cold  season rolls in again.

Taco Shells - P365 # 146

Ms. Burrito was craving for some tacos the other night so that was what I prepared for dinner. I always put the taco shells in a special container so when Ms. B saw that I just arranged it in a plate like this, she asked why?
May 18, 2011:

  • It's 1:54 am and I am still up.  We were gone the whole day so I wasn't able to do some blogging so now I am on OT mood hehehe.  Na, this will be the last one.  I  am planning to  sleep in until 9 am tomorrow so I would post  this now.  It's my school break of waking up early  so wohooo.
  • By the time you  read this, I am probably zzzzzing already.  Will update this tomorrow.
Good morning everybody, now signing off to bed.  Thanks for your  visit and comments.
  • My planning of staying in bed  till 9 wasn't materialize because  Mr. Burrito woke up early.
  • I vacuumed the floor and  did the laundry  this morning and I just got done  folding the clothes.
  • We did some grilling  of fish outside, ate our lunch at the back porch and the kids love it!  They both said "Wish we could do this everyday".  For them eating outside the kitchen table is fun hehehe.  I guess for them, it is kinda like having a  fancy dinner at Ribby Hall.

Rice Krispies or Pop Corn - P365 # 145

I am not sure whether the snack that Clang has sent us is Rice Krispies or Pop Corn. They are a little bit sweet and crispy and we ate it all already lol. I don't know how to read Japanese writings so I have no idea hehehe.
May 27, 2011:
  • We attended mass  this morning as  a celebration of a successful school year.
  • We visited Dad after mass for a little bit  and then came back here.  Ms. Burrito packed their things for their sleep over tonight at their Pap's.
  • We will be heading to the party  at noon, I just want to update here  quickly before we leave.
  • Meanwhile I will leave you a link for the villas in costa dorada for you to check out if you are heading to Spain this summer.
Have a good weekend everyone!

Deviled Egg - P365 # 144

Here's the deviled egg we made out of the eggs that we colored during Easter.  Maing deviled egg is very easy, even my kids can do it, with my supervision of course lol.
My husband and FIL love eating  deviled egg.
May 26, 2011:
  • We watched  the mini Olympics of the grade school this morning.  Ms. Burrito had so much fun playing with her team mates.
  • Tomorrow, we will also attend a closing mass with them and then  attend a party with the kindergarten parents  over at Hanover Park.
  • So please pardon me if I am not frequent in your blogs dearest, I am just too occupied with so many things outdoors.  Although we can't go Boating Holidays Norfolk Broads but we are trying to make  most of the warm days before it gets cold again.  However,   I am grateful of your comments and visits so please keep it coming.

Spud Buds - P365 #143

When we visited my BIL's home  a couple of weeks ago, his wife   dug out some of his kids former toys and give it to the Burritos.  I packed some of my childrens toys and sent it to the Philippines for my niece and nephews because we have too many here at home.  I am sure that the kids there will enjoy having it.
May 25, 2011:
  • I made two packs of  pancit canton for our breakfast.  Added some napa cabbage, no meat, we are  watching what we eat now hehehe.  Well, I always have but hubby always have a good  appetite before and he realized that he has to end it.  Now he is more into veggies and less fatty foods.
  • I am glad I reached my quota for the month, it wasn't big as the previous months but it's okay.  Lost the PRs of my two blogs so tasks were limited.  Hope I could gain it back, please Google, give it back to me lol.
  • I am doing laundry today, wasn't able to do it yesterday as we went and visited my brother-in-law in the hospital.  He told us that God saved him for the second time, if he wasn't admitted by Saturday, the doctor told him that he wouldn't  have made it till Monday.  His former surgery at UPMC was infected and turned out green so they had to cut it out again to cure the infection.  Thanks God that the medical team at Trinity Hospital was able to  caught the infection and he was saved.
  • Toys at our home is everywhere again so I have to  organized them maybe today or this weekend when Ms. Burrito is off so she could help me.  I like to involve both of the kids in cleaning up the mess.
Have a wonderful day everyone!

Shallots and Scallions - P365 # 142

Scallions and Shallots are two of my favorite ingredients that you would always find in our kitchen. They are in the same family and StartS with letter S So a perfect etry for this week'S ABC Wednesday, woot!
May 24,  2011:
  • Glad to see  that our lettuces are starting to come up.  My husband was  looking at our garden plot this morning and he saw them growing.  We have three kinds, iceberg, butter crunch, and medley blend.  I hope that they will grow god,  our pet Wubbzy will be happy to share  with us hehehe.
  • If you were givine a chance to go for a vacation, where would you want to go?  I p would personally choose Italy.  I could have some fun tasting their sumptuous meals while staying at one of the lake garda apartments and sipping some  wine.  Ahh that would be great isn't it?  If only....
  • My plan for the day includes doing laundry and vacuuming the floor.  I'll do it as soon as I  finish this post and get off the chair..
  • I did not prepare a pack lunch for my daughter because somebody will be bringing in pizza for lunch today.  Students has to bring their cold lunch the whole week this week.

Jello With Fruit Cocktail - P365 # 141

I made a pack of jello the other day and mixed it with a can of fruit cocktail, it was delish!
Too bad, the kids don't like fruit in a jello so I ate it all wahhh.
May 23, 2011:
  • The kids were bugging us a couple of days ago to bring them to the carnival but we scheduled it yesterday.  We went and realized that they were packing out already, ouch!  The burritos were disappointed but we told them that we will go somewhere better than a carnival.  It's not worth the money to go there anyway as the games are ridiculously pricey.  We felt bad that they did not get to enjoy the rides though.
  • If you are looking for an online wine delivery, just check out the link provided.  I've seen so many limo around the area for the last couple of days so it must have something to do with Proms in school.
  • Hubby is now working out, he will be taking Dad to  the Dentist at 11 am for his dental appointment.
  • I made  some bacon and egg, whipped up  a yummy fried rice and that is what we will have for breakfast.  How about you?
Have a great week everyone!

Photo Editing and Sad News- P365 # 140

I tried the photo editing online with my project today. Below is a cheesecake sampler that my SIL Michaele brought at Dad's during Easter.
Here's the edited one.  Do you see it on the screen?
Funny Pictures
Some  Easter cookies.
Here's the edited one.
Funny Pictures
May 22, 2011:
  • We visited my SIL Chris yesterday and we learned a sad news about my BIL Dave.  He is back in the hospital.  He lost a lot of weight that they can't do any chemo on the cancer that is left in his liver.  Since he got the operation, he's been on a liquid diet for weeks and just last week, he started taking one tablespoon of solid food a day.  It wasn't enough to   gain weight so when he went for a follow up on his chemo, the hospital got alarmed.   He need to stay in the hospital so  they could boost him with  the nourishment that he need.
  • Another sad news is about the Grinny (chipmunks).  We found her crushed on the road, in front of Dad's home.  Poor little fella, I feel bad because the little critter kept Dad's company everyday.  My FIL was very sad to saw the Grinny  on the road.
  • We are going to attend mass at noon.
  • Got to get up from my chair and clean the Saucepans that my husband used  a while ago hehehe.  Thanks for the  breakfast Hon!

Clementine - P365 # 139

Our favorite citrus fruit is clementine (not the one in the picture). But if clementine is not available in the store, we buy those big oranges.
May 21, 2011:
  • My oh my, time flies really.  We only have a week left and it's June already, whew.  I'll be  a year older again lol.
  • Got up late this morning (8:30), let Wubzy loose so he could run around the yard.  He's happy and started nibbling on my plants wahhh.  It's funny, we let Champ out the yard too to see if they could get along well.  At first, they sniffed each other then Wubzy took off, Champ came chasing after him.  I got scared that Champ might hurt Wubzy so I stopped him.
  • I  gave Champ a bath after we ate breakfast
  • Hubby and kids went to the store to buy some more gardening soil while I a am doing laundry.  Now they're back and  am hurrying to finish this post before I get out and started gardening again.
  • We will be going to the park after we get done with our gardening project.
Thanks for visiting folks and have a good weekend.

Homemade Cupcakes - P365 # 138

My niece-in-law, Shelby,  made these cupcakes on Easter.  It's actually a cookie cupcake because she puts a  small bal of cookie mix  in the middle of the cupcake.  It was pretty god.
May 20, 2011:
  • I was glad that I finally talked to my Mom the other night.  I got some updates from back home.  Whenever I call mama, I only listens because she can't stop talking and telling me everything lol.
  • I did some gardening yesterday and now my back hurts wahhh.  Sign of aging?
  • I have to fix some of the bricks that I laid out last night, I couldn't see it no more since I was out there in our yard till 9 pm, whew.
  • We will go to the store  later to get some veggies.  How I wish going for a holiday in uk is just like doing a trip to the store lol.  Oh boy, when will that time be?
Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Ham - P365 # 137

The spiral ham we had last Easter. I usualy take pictures before we eat for every occasion but that particular day was different, everyone was stressed out about my BIL Dave's surgery the next morning so I wasn't able to capture things.
May19, 2011:

  • I don't think I would be able to do the gardening I had plan, the  ground is so wet from yesterday's rain.
  • The last two weeks of my daughter's school are pure enjoyment, they are ahead of the schedule for their  course so this week  they have the School Spirit week where they focus on Fitness.  They still have  lectures but  they have extra recess for  physical activities.  She will have an exam for spelling tomorrow.  Next week will be their Olympics and she is  excited about it.
  •  have been watching Grey's Anatomy, those are the missed episodes I failed to see when we were  moving.  I am glad there are reruns on TV hehehe.

Egg Salad - P365 # 136

One of the favorite thing that Ms. Burrito and her Papa do together is making egg salad.  The4y love making sandwich with i egg salad too.
May 18, 2011:

  • Hubby decided to have a  big vegetable garden so this morning, we bought four pieces of  railroad ties.  Oh man, those woods are so heavy that we have to pay our neighbor  to help my husband to pick them up from our truck to our backyard.   Gee, I did not know that this would cost much to have a big vegie garden or else I could have said "I am good with my  existing garden already" lol.
  • We also bought  potting soil and other stuff that we need.  The problem is that it's raining  like a cow pissing on flat rock once again so we were not able to do  the gardening that we planned.
  • I made a tortang talong (egg plant fritata or omelet) for breakfast and I will make tinola for dinner tonight.
  • I was going to send my Mom some  chocolate for the boxes I sent last week but I did not have proper Food Packaging to use and I did not include it as I am sure it would melt.
  • We are suppose to have rain the whole week this week so I don't think gardening looks promising.
I hope everyone is having a good day!  Thanks for dropping by and for leaving your spice and thoughts.

Recycling - P365 # 135

My FIL is growing some lettuce and used the empty vac  base to put the soil.  Notice the crown royal stand? Dad doesn't throw stuff, he RECYCLES  them.  See he uses the stand to  hold up the  screen from  flying off.
In few more days, these will be ready for transplanting.  Do you recycle too?
May 17, 2011:
  • I am doing laundry today.
  • Hubby is killing himself with his rigorous work out hehehe.  He is determined to lose weight.  Go go go hon!
  • I will do my share of work out when Lady in Red is done.
  • Meanwhile I am contemplating if I will order a photo poster of my daughter's favorite star to put in her bedroom or not.
Have a good day everyone.  Thanks for leaving your thoughts and spicing up my blog.

Take Out Order - P365 # 134

Take out orders is always in our menu whenever there is time constrain in our home and we don't have enough time to make dinner or when lazy bug attacks. It is very seldom though because we still prefer to have food cooked at home.
Italian chicken that we had a couple of weeks ago.
May 16, 2011:
  • I thought I would be able to  update this blog early this morning but I was wrong again, dang!
  • We went to  the store  to pick up some things and I also send money to my family back home.  My two younger siblings' enrollment is coming  so they need  money for the things that they need in school and for the tuition fee.  Wish I could send more but I can only send what we have spare on our budget, sigh..
  • I hope that I could bloghop a little bit now that hubby and kids took off to visit my SIL.  I did not go because I still have tasks to finish.  So for now, I better stop yakking and start  working.
Thanks for the visit and comments everyone!

Hearty Egg - P365 # 133

I was bummed out when I broke the egg yoke as I cracked it open in the pan. But when the egg yoke started spreading out, it formed into a heart weee.   Isn't that a heart?
May 15, 2011:
  • I wasn't able to  update this blog this morning.  I have a cramp so I sleep a little longer this morning and  wasn't  blog as much as I want.
  • I was going to wash some clothes today but  the lazy bug  is in me besides we just got back from Dad's so I'll do it tomorrow.
  • Sometimes when I am cooking, I miss the old style  where you use firewood to cook.  The taste of food  is different than cooking in  gas or electric  stove.  It's not even close to wood burning stoves that you can find.  My family still uses the same  style in cooking.  My mother used to tell me when I was living in a an apartment and using gas to cook, she said the  taste of the food is not as good as the one that s cook using firewood.  Sorry folks, I am a little nostalgic today.. hormone is changing  due to my PMS lol.
  • It's raining again and it says on the weather channel that another  storm is coming.  Part of  pour town  was flooded  a couple of days ago.  I feel bad for those  people whose house were  soaked with the flood.

Hope everyone had a good weekend.

Potato and Bell Pepper - P365 # 132

Fried potatoes with green bell pepper for breakfast. Served with bacon, eggs, and coffee. I ate mine with rice.. wink..
May 14, 2011:
  • Another busy weekend for us.  I stripped off our beddings and now washing it.  Scrubbed the  kitchen floor with mop.  Vacuumed the carpet with the help of the Burritos, thanks  mga anak!
  • Thanks Mr. K for  sending my postage today and for writing the BV tasks, mwah!
  • I was excited to  fry a pack of tinapa  (smoked fish)   this morning but was disappointed that  it's all  spoiled.  Hmmmnn, this tinapa was  produced by Fiesta Pinoy.  This post might not be good  for their reputation but I am no longer buying such product  made by them.  I was disgusted because it made our whole house stunk that even  the air fresher won't  remove the smell.  I threw the whole thing, the bad things is,   I purchased 7  packages of that said product so now I am scared to cook the rest.  Each pack cost $4 and I did not want to just throw it in the garbage.   I think, we will be returning this in the store.  What a waste!
  • Some of my posts and comments  are still missing, I am wondering when Blogger will be able to restore those?
Need to write my tasks from PU2 now folks, thanks for visiting and for your thoughts.

Toron- P365 # 131

Toron or deep fried banana rolls is one of the popular snacks in the place where I grew up in.  It is good  when you wrap it with a langka filling in it.  My mother used to made this for us when  were growing up.  Hubby and  Ms. Burrito likes to eat it so whenever I see some plantain in the store and I have a lumpia wrapper and canned jack fruit in  my cabinet, I always buy some to make toron.  The plantain is not as good as the saba  but it's good enough or should I say it's better than nothing lol.
Anyhow, I made this  today after we came back from Pittsburgh.
May 13, 2011:
  • Today is Friday the 13th and I was always told by  old people that it is  not a good day.  So far, it is  becoming a  good day since Blogger is now available.  I was getting worried  since yesterday because I couldn't do anything and  although it was available for reading but some of the posts and comments were temporarily removed by Blogger.  Some of my posts and comments  are still missing but I am hoping that they will republish it soon.  Thanks to the team from Blogger who are working hard to  fix the problem.
  • A friend is changing the layout of one of   Mr. K's blog and she presented me some banners that I like.  She already installed it actually.
  • We  went to  Giant Eagle this morning to drop off the two balikbayan boxes that we  are sending to my family back home.
  • After the drop off, we decided to cruise down Pittsburgh to get some asian goodies.  I am glad we went because  there are plenty stocks of tinapa there.
  • I made some toron when we came back.
  • Now hubby and kids are at my FIL while I stayed trying to update  some posts.
Thank you all so much for  your visits and thoughts!

Cake - P365 # 130

Mr. K and the Burritos bought a cake for Mother's Day.

May 12, 2011:

  • I  busied myself in packaging the box that I have to send.  It is now packed and will   only write the addresses.  One will go to my sister in manila and another one will go to my Mom in Bicol.  The boxes are a little smaller compared to the balikbayan box in Korea but the  cost of shipping is  also smaller.  It cost $90  per box.
  • I started doing my laundry this morning but until now, I haven't finish yet, whew!
  • I marinated some pork last night because Mr. K wants to grill it here in out backyard today but he changed his mind, we will bring it to my FIL and grill it there instead.

Food Court - P365 # 129

Ms. Burrito got hungry when we went to the mall last Saturday so we ordered a plate at the food court. She only eat a little bit so hubby and I helped in finishing it lol.
May 11, 2011:

  • I just filled up one of the boxes that I am going to send and  I still have to buy some stuff for the other boxes.
  • We will be going to the store  in a little bit as soon as I am done here.
  • On the other note, I had a dream last night about a friend who taught me how to strum guitar before.  I never really had a formal   guitar lesson so I am not good at it.  I wish to learn more though.
  • Alrighty folks, this is for now.  Thanks for visiting and for your added thoughts and ideas.

Quaff - P365 # 128

My father-in-law bought a wine, he thought it was a cooking wine but it wasn't. Hubby said, it's the kind of wine that he can tolerate, so we open it and they let me try it since it was Mother's Day hehehe.  It wasn't bad, a little sweet and a bit sour.
According to Webster's New World Thesaurus, quaff is a verb which connotes gulp, swallow, or guzzle.
Quaff is perfect for this week's letter in ABC..
Love the reflection of the  ceiling light.
May 10, 2011:

  • My plan is to finish packing the box that I have to send in Pinas.  I have to get this done before Friday (whew, three more days).
  • We have to go to the store and get us a bag of rice, I am running out hehehe.
  • Am still thinking what to make for lunch, any suggestion?
  • I fried some potatoes mixed with bell pepper, scallions, and onions for breakfast.  Served with bacon and eggs.  How about you, what did you have for  breakfast?

Shamrock Cookies - P365 # 127

These are the cookies that Tita Chris had made last St. Patrick and gave it to the kids.
Ms. Burrito was immitating her Dad's Mickey Mouse here hehehe.
May 9, 2011:
  • I made some fried rice for breakfast.
  • Have to do laundry  today, gotta write one  task first then 'll start it.
  • I was kinda  bummed out that I wasn't able to talk to my mother on Mother's day.  I am planning to just send her a Holiday Money and the allowance that she needs for my brother and sister's enrollment this June.  I hope that I could send extra for my niece too who would be enrolling  in highs school this school year.
  • We went to Dr. Aggarwal for my migraine today, visited my  FIL, play at the backyard a little bit and now am back online while  finishing the laundry.

Fruit Variety - P365 # 126

We always have a variety of fruit at our kitchen table. We want the kids to grow up loving fruits instead of some other junks like chips and cookies. We do however buy cookies and cake once in a while as a treat.
May 8, 2011:

  • My kids and hubs woke me up with kisses.  They gave me a card today since they already gave my gifts  yesterday.
  • Hubby made some french toast again and I made some pancit canton for breakfast.
  • We will be off for church.  Just want to make this update before we leave so I can great you Mommies, a happy Mother's day!  Enjoy your day!
  • We will be  accompanying my FIL to the cemetery after church to visit my  late MIL.

Again, Happy Mother's Day to all the Moms!

Fried Rice - P365 # 125

My daughter is very eager to learn how to make fried rice. I was already making it this morning and forgot that I promised to teach her. When she saw me doing it, she jump in the chair and took over. I just told her what to do and she made it for the first time. I think, few more sessions and she will learn how to do it by herself.
Don't mind the spatula, it broke off but I did not throw it because it is perfect for her to use.  She did well on her first try, she just need  strict supervision while making it.
May 7, 2011:

  • Hubby and the kids woke up early.  Hubby made them french toast for breakfast.  He also did his  weekend  work out while my daughter and I were making fried rice.
  • Now, we are having a home school session (Ms. Burrito only).  I am typing while she is doing the exercise I gave her (multiplication this time.  She got all the  addition correctly and one mistake with subtraction.  My soon to be 6 year old is very  interested with math and spelling .
  • It has been raining since I woke up this morning.
  • I have two task to write  and I will do it after this post.  My student is on break.

Enjoy your day Mommies!
