September 30, 2011:
  • I gave Mr. Burrito some tests today about Patterns with shapes, colors, patterns with movements and sounds, and patterns with objects.  He did really well, I was surprised because we haven't  gone this  through yet.  But then again, Ms. Burrito has been teaching him stuff too when I am not teaching him.
  • I did not cook lunch today.  I want to eat some leftOs hehehe.  We ate the sisig from yesterday, I still have some  pinakbet to eat tonight weee.

Salad with Chips 365/270

  • We visited Dad after  Ms. Burrito's  dance class.

Home Sweet Home

One of my daughter's classmate  is from Kuwait.  Her  Dad  always talks to us  and he mentioned that he is  looking for a house to buy.  He prefers  a house  that is close to the school just like where our home is located.  We told him about the house that is for sale  on the other side of our street.   He said that he is going to get an appointment  to see the property.  He really like where the  house is located  because it is a walking distance to the school.

Finding a house that you like  will depend on the Realtor and real estate agent that is working with  you.  An experienced real estate agent is your key in finding a good home that would suit your family's need.     The Charleston Real Estate could be  of great help if you are looking for a house to buy in South  Carolina.  They would help you in every step of the way to make sure that you are satisfied of your purchase.

I remember the excitement that I had when were  house hunting  five years ago.  The real estate agent was very accommodating and kind to us.  We've looked into  many different houses before we settled on this one that we bought.  Until now, we are still friends with the lady who  helped us find our home sweet home.  We also recommend her to our daughter's classmate's Dad.

September 28, 2011:
  • Mr. Burrito and I practiced  counting 1-20 again today.  I am surprised that he is not fond of Math because most of boys do.  He is the opposite of  Ms. Burrito who loves doing Math exercises.  I am not complaining though because he is doing good with our lessons.
  • We  let Ms. Burrito tried  a different dance school  that offers a  free lesson.  It seems nice there but there are so many rules that  we just don't want to fool with.  Maybe when Ms. Burrito is old enough, we will enroll her there.  For the meantime,  she will stay  in the school where she is enrolled at.  We are planning to  enroll her in Jazz too.
  • We visited  Dad after her dance  lesson then came home and reviewed a little for her test tomorrow.

The Next Iron Chef

My daughter and I  watched an episode of the battle of Iron Chef America last  Sunday at Food Network  channel.  The main ingredient  of that episode is milk.  Now, I was thinking that there   were not so many  menus you can prepare with milk but I was wrong.  They came up with so many, I was so impressed and glued on TV lol.

During the commercial of the said show, I saw a glimpse of the The Next Iron Chef that will be hosted by Alton Brown.  It will be the 8th episode of this show which will be aired  at the end  of next month, October 30th.  This event will be participated in by ten world's  elite chefs in the quest of  becoming a member  elite iron chef culinary society.

So if you are like me and my daughter who love to watch these cooking shows,  bookmark the date so you won't miss the  premiere night  of this prestigious battle.  Let us see who will reign supreme in the kitchen.  I love watching any kind of cooking shows because I get plenty of ideas  to do in my own kitchen.  Come join me and many others in watching  this most waited and exciting  battle of the  expert chefs.

September 26, 2011:

  • While my husband hasn't left to go to school yet, I took advantage of going down to the basement and work out.  I burned  300 calories in 32 minutes.  Twenty minutes  was spent in running 17 5.0 speed while the rest was spent walking at a 3.0 speed.  I forgot to  bring  water  so I was so thirsty and had to stop.  I hope that I could continue with my work out routine once again.
  • In ten minutes,my son and I will do the  letters F-J and numbers 11-15.

Have a good day everyone!

Lasagna for Pap's Birthday 365/262

Ms. Burrito love to help me when I am making lasagna. She gets upset when I make one and she didn't know about it and wasn't able to help. Below was the pan of lasagna we baked for Dad's birthday. I was going to make it earlier but she begged me not to, she wanted me to wait for her until she's done from school, so I did.
September 21, 2011:
  • Mr. Burrito learned how to write  numbers 1 to 5 today.  We did  letters A to E yesterday.   I am surprised to learn that it is not hard to teach him at all.  I thought for sure that it would be hard but I was wrong.  He learn  very  easy actually, it is just his laziness that hinders it sometimes lol.
  • I received the reward that I redeemed from Kellogs.  It is a penlight with cars o printed on it.  Eating cereal is rewarding.
  • Hubby made some chocolate cookies and Ms. Burrito and I made some caramel apples.
  • I made some beef steak and vegetable salad for dinner.

Creativity and Learning

When it comes to buying toys for our  children, we always choose the ones that enhances their creativity and thinking ability. We don't just buy what they want but rather  evaluate the toy if it's going to help their skills and    development.   I prefer to buy educational toy such as puzzle, building blocks, and arts and crafts.

When our daughter got the kitchen set from "Santa", she was so happy.  Since then, she's very determined to learn  simple menus to cook.  Now, she can make scrambled egg, boiled  eggs, fry some bacon, and  she is always willing to help me when I am preparing dinner.  That is the kind of  effect  that we want to get  from toys that  our children play.  Toys should entertain and at the same time enhance their thinking capabilities.

If you are looking for some toys that you want to give to  your children, visit CP Toys.  They have different kinds of educational toys  that your tots would love to have and play.  To narrow down your search in finding the right toy for your kids, you can shop by category, age, and price range.

Jackfruit 365/260

Jackfruit is commonly known as "langka" in the Filipino language.  Both of my husband and  daughter love this  fruit.  I always put this as filling in  our toron - a Filipino snack  made from banana and wrapped in lumpia wrapper.  You can fry or bake it  depending on your preference.

The photo below was taken in Epcot Research and Developing Center - Disney World.
This is what a jackfruit looks like when ripe.

September 11, 2010:
  • Today is a very important date in American history.  It's been a decade since the 9/11 attack.  I was still in the Philippines then and never knew that I would be able to live here in the land of the free.  I pray for those families who lost their love ones during the attack.
  • Our church gave tribute to those  victims during the said event.  Some  students from St. Joesph School including  Ms. Burrito sung  beautiful songs in the church.
  • Today is also Grandparents Day and it's a very special one for my family.  My FIL went to church with us today.  He isn't  a church goer  type  but he went with us so the kids were very happy.  Thanks a lot Dad, that meant a lot to us!

These photos were taken when we ate dinner over at Eat'n Park last month.  Looking at these photos makes me want to eat there once again lol.
Our pirate eater hehehe.  I feel bad that he is sick, he got a viral infection since last Monday.  We brought him to the doctor and  they  said to give him until tomorrow to recuperate, if he doesn't feel well, we need to bring him  again this coming Saturday.
