Brownie Brittle

I am not much of a sweet  dessert lover  but I do love  brownie.  When I was still in my country and my husband was in Guam, he  would bake brownie and send it to me.  My husband likes baking but I don't.  We never had an oven when I was growing up so baking was never part of  my cooking experience in the kitchen maybe that's why I am not fond of it.  I bake once in a while for the sake of my  children but not too much.

Anyhow, whenever we have a pan of brownie at home, I  would only take the corners.  I like it because it's a little crunchy  at the edges.  That's why, when Sheila G's Brownie Brittle  was sent to me for review, I was delighted!

They sent me three  different flavors:
  • Chocolate Chip
  • Toffee Crunch
  • Traditional Walnut, this is my favorite of all the three as I love  nuts..

Brownie Brittle is perfect for a person like me who likes the corner piece of brownies.  Believe it or not, I was the only one who ate  them all as my lovelies here loves soft brownies.  So I had it all for myself weee.  I would definitely buy this in store for snack.  Love it!
Thank you so much Sheila G.

Here's how Brownie Brittle has started their company.

In 1992, Sheila G. Mains, better known in the food business as Sheila G, took a treasured family recipe for fudge brownies and baked her way into a thriving business. You may even have tasted one of her rich, dense squares of heaven at some of our nation’s finest restaurants and theme parks. So, where exactly did the inspiration for her scrumptious new snack brownie brittle come from?

Like many brownie aficionados, Sheila is particularly fond of the crispy edges. In fact, on many an afternoon she would walk through the bakery gathering the brittle batter off the sides of the sheet pans as the brownies cooled in their racks. It had that same rich chocolate taste, but with an amazing crunch. That started her wondering: How could she create a whole pan of crunchy edges? Well, lucky for us, she figured it out! Now you too can satisfy your sweet tooth in a snap with Sheila G’s Brownie Brittle!

Cookies, cookies, and more Cookies!

During my son's Christmas play, the parents were asked to bring some cookies to snack on after the play. Parents and grand parents were invited to watch the play. The kindergartner and First graders has to perform twice, first is for family, and the second is for the rest of the students in the school.
I bought the cookies I brought  at Eat n' Park.  It was a great experience, mingling with other parents and watch the adorable kids sing and act on stage.

Arroz Caldo

I made a pot of Arroz Caldo or chicken rice  sup.  It's one of Filipinos favorite dish.  This dish reminds me of my single  life, a former office mate and a good friend of mine would always go to this nearby  food chain called Bigg's and I would always order Arroz Caldo.  This is really good to snack on especially during winter times.
I posted a recipe  at the comment section of this post if you want to try it.  I altered some of it though.

The Artisan Pasta & a Giveaway

I am very fortunate to work with different companies  that provides product for  review.  The recent one  that gave me an opportunity is Mara's Pasta. My husband is skeptical about  pasta that are made from wheat because we have tried one before and we did not like the end-result.  But, it's because I had  a bad experience does not mean that I would stop trying other  brand.  Surprisingly, my husband love the spaghetti that I made!  He gave it a two thumbs up and so as my two Burritos (my kids).

Mara's Pasta sent me one package containing one box of  spaghetti noodles, penne, and  fettuccine.  As I have mentioned above, I have prepared the  spaghetti first and they all love it.  I have yet to try the penne and fettuccine but am sure that it would be as good as the spaghetti.

Don't hesitate to try the Artisan Pasta, I can attest to it's goodness.  Mara's Pasta - Healthy Finally Tastes Good!

I made a Fettuccine Alfredo on my son's birthday and it was delicious.
Disclaimer: Mara's Pasta provided me with a free sample of this product to review, and I was under no obligation to review it if I so chose. Nor was I under any obligation to write a positive review or sponsor a product giveaway in return for the free product.

The Dukan 100 foods

When I first heard about the Dukan diet and read the first initial description provided by Pierre Dukan I thought it was entirely about undergoing a primitive man’s diet.
After knocking the image of berries, fish and woolly mammoths out of my mind I further explored the Dukan healthy diet plan and was refreshingly pleased with what I saw.

The foods list is restrictive, as it says in the name Dukan 100 foods, however the selection provided offers a lot of scope as to what you could do with the varied choice available. For example on the meats list you have beef steak, roast beef, rump steak and even rabbit, not quite the woolly mammoth I had in mind.

The vegetable list gets better with, artichoke (a personal favourite of mine), asparagus and even aubergine.

Fruits are a bit of a grey area, not forbidden but not highly recommended as they contain a high level of sugar. Pierre Dukan has counted roughly 45 common fruits found in the everyday western supermarket and suggests that you avoid only 4; bananas, grapes, cherries and figs.

Although initially its sounds like a very restricted weight loss plan there is actually a lot of scope in the dietary sense. After all when I go shopping I usually take on a very primitive approach in the sense of being a bit of a creature of habit, usually picking out the same old groceries and products.

In fact via limiting your menu you may be surprised by how creative you can be. Think back to when you were a student and made (perhaps not always successfully) the most bizarre but interesting concoctions.

During a period when I became a vegetarian my menus were always far more imaginative and I also really enjoyed researching them. One of the main premises of the Dukan diet is that there is a large network of support. This also branches out into the large array of Dukan recipes.

Lots of these can be found online, with fresh ideas made available each week if you’re feeling a little stuck for some of your own.

Beanitos

If you want chips that are healthy for snack, choose Beanitos. Beanitos is the original bean chips that is free from corn and gluten, it's high in fiber, omega and protein.  I received one box of  this chips  for free in exchange of my honest review.
The flavors are Cheddar Cheese ( hubby and kids like this one), it has pinto bean and flax seeds in it,  the black bean chips, and the Chipotle which I really love.
They are  so good to snack on, so these are the only ones left.
Thanks a lot Beanitos.
