Delicious Almondina Toastee: Indulgently Tasty!

Remember those  delicious Almondina  biscuits that I posted  a while back?  It has been one of my favorite  snacks to buy  ever since I was introduced to it.  Almondina is again introducing another addition to their delicious snacks, the  toastees.
The  toastees flavor includes cranberry almond, sesame almond, lemon poppy almond, coconut orange almond.  I love the inspiring story  of how they started their company.  These snacks  has minimal calories, they are  thin, light, crunchy, and delicious!
I love coconut and  I also love oranges so the coconut orange almond was my first  pick, that's the first thing I tried anyway.  They are so good, really crunchy and  it's perfect to eat with a cup of tea, coffee or in our case, orange and lemon juice.  I love this flavor, the citrus comes through with the nuttiness  of the toasted coconut and almond, oh it is so good!
My daughter love  dried cranberries so when she came home from school and she saw  the selection of the toastees, she immediately asked if she could try the  cranberry almond.
The cranberry almond  has the toasted  goodness of  premium almonds combined  with the tang of dried cranberries.  I tell you, my daughter  told me that she wants some of these for her lunch so I packed some of these in her lunch box the next day.
My husband is not very fond of sesame but I do so I love the sesame almond as well.  It has a healthy sesame flavors with almonds.  It's a perfect snack to  eat  after   a good 30 minute  jog or walk on a treadmill  coupled with a bottle of water.    I haven't tried the lemon poppy almond  but I am excited to find out if it has  a tartness of fresh lemons or the subtlety of  the healthy poppy seeds.  This week is a celebration of the Catholic School week in my children's school  and one of those days is teacher's day, I am thinking of  sending   my children's  teachers a  pack of these delicious toastees, the kids love the idea.

Cooking and Music

Cooking is something that I never thought I could love doing.  I never liked  cooking when I was  single so I thought it would be hard for me to prepare a meal once I have my own family but it  eventually changed.  I guess love can change everything, right?
I love it when I am cooking and my daughter is playing the piano.  Listening to music while cooking  inspires me.  The video below  was recorded from  four years ago when my daughter was in first grade.  She learned how to play some parts of Fur Elise.  Her teacher said that I should  buy her a metronome so she could check her timing and  speed.  I bought the metronome that she have here.

Steeler Design Cake for EJ's 10th Birthday

Last Saturday was a fun night for my family.  We celebrated  EJ's 10th birthday.  I cooked some food  and we also bought some as addition.  When I used to have a  party for my children's  birthdays, I used to cook everything but it can be tiring.  I stopped hosting a party when they started  going to school but  we thought of having one  this year since it's a great milestone for our little guy.
I cooked some  pancit bihon (rice noodles).  My parents always told me that rice noodles signifies long life lol.  So on birthdays, we  either have  spaghetti or noodles.
I also  baked some  pigs in a blanket, kids love these kind of food.
As my daughter's request, I made some garden rotini pasta salad.
Then we made a bowl of fruit salad for dessert.
We also  bought a tray of pizza from DiCarlo's.
My husband suggested that instead of me cooking that we can just buy some of the food so I can rest while waiting for the  guests.  I was all for it, approved!
 Chicken  strips and jojo potatoes.
Doritos for snacks is one of the kids favorite pick-me-up bites.
 Soda for beverages.
And since our birthday boy is a football fanatic and a huge fan of Steelers, we got him a Steeler designed cake.  Half of it is chocolate and half is vanilla.
We have left overs  so I did not cook the next day yay!  That's one good thing about  hosting a party at home, you have left overs n the next day and you don't have to worry  about cooking.

Ringing the 2017 with a Family Date

We started our new year with a family date.  We went to a sushi restaurant  after we attended a Sunday mass.  My husband was craving for some sushi  and my daughter   wants to try the  place where hubby took me for a dinner date  last time without them.

Me and the kids had a Happy Family meal.  It has  beef, chicken, lobster, and lots of veggies.
My goal this year is to  eat healthier with homecooked meals but here we are lol.  Anyway, the kids and husband will be back to work and school so I will have time to cook again so for now, ringing in the 2017 eating out  is just a temporary thing.  Besides, it is just a little celebration  for us.
We were on our way to visit my father-in-law so it was a nice excuse to not to cook.  We all had a full belly after we left and headed out to Ohio.
This Happy Family meal was so good.
The kids shared with some of their Dad's sushi.
When we came back, we went to the grocery store and bought some stuff.  I ran into a friend who  asked me what is the best  brand for speakers.  She said that she is looking for replacement speakers for their entertainment system.  I told her what we currently use and we have it for  many years so it's a good brand.  Today  feels normal, my kids are back to school and hubby is at work.  I am slo working on updating some of my blogs and answering emails to some clients.  Working at home rocks!
