Transformation

Note: This is originally posted at my bravejournal blog but was transferred here so the comments are just copied and pasted for remembrance purposes.

Back in the States, my daughter wouldn't sleep without me by her side so my husband had to sleep by himself. That was our arrangement for over two years. I can remember when my husband told me this "I love it that we have a kid already but I also miss being just the two of us".

Well for me, I don't mind because I grew up in the Philippines with similar situation. So being raised with a very tight family ties, I let my daughter slept with us since she was a baby.. So I guess I am the one to blame for it.

But anyhow when we transferred overseas, a big transformation occured. We talked our daughter into sleeping on her own bed. On the first night, she did not like the idea, she crawled back into our bed at midnight. So we thought, there's no hope for it and that we're going back to our old ways again. But to our surprise, she slept through the night in her own bed the next day.
From then on, she don't want to sleep with us anymore even if my husband offered one night because the mosquitos got inside her bedroom. She said "I'm more comfortable with my own bed now". My husband was so relieved and said "Finally".

The problem now is, my son don't sleep through the night so at midnight he'll wake up and I have to transfer to his room and sleep there too.. I just enjoy the moment, while they want Mommy hehehe.. Because sooner, they would want to do things by themselves.

Oh really, typical talaga yan sa pinoy parent/s.. mostly kasi sa american babies once they were born, they really stayed in their own crib unlike us, gusto natin nasa tabi natin..

when my son was a little baby until he was 1½ years, he used to sleep in his own crib.
After that, sa bed na namin matutulog. Ayaw ng matulog sa crib niya, and not his own bedroom either.

His bedroom was finished before he was born, pero till now, he don't want to sleep there alone. Oh yes, he sleep in his bedroom daytime, doon na rin ang playroom nya. Night time he sleep with us.Hindi rin namin pinipilit to sleep in his bedroom alone. We love to sleep togther with him, kahit masipa kami paminsan minsan hehe.

But anyway, ok din yong girl mo, kasi she can sleep alone, buti narin yong nasanay diba.

awww.. that's sweet. my parents never really trained me to sleep by myself until early this year.. haha.. which is really
embarrassing. we're trying to save on air conditioning so we'd all sleep in one room. my dad recognized that i'm already an adult and told me that he prepared me a room so i can have my own personal space.

the first few nights, i would often think miss my mom coz i used to hold her hand whenever i can't fall asleep. :(

I wandered over here from your other blog and will follow. Looking forward to your foodie posts. :) I like the deep rich colors of your blog here but I found it really difficult to read some of it. Not sure if it's just too dark or what. You don't have to change anything but I thought you might want to know that some (like me) may have trouble reading your blog. Thanks!
