Pakbet

We had some guest yesterday who came over to our house and brought us some veggies. This is my first time seeing this long "upo" not sure what it's called in English wahhhhhhhhh but look how long it is. Give me a buzz if you want some and "ill give t3/4 of that lol. Thanks a lot ate Anna!

She also borught us some peppers and a butternut squash. Thanks for sis Yami for teaching me how to cook pakbet. I cut up the veggies and put half of it in the freezer, hopefully I could still use it later. That's my first time freezing veggies.

I only pt sitaw (string beans), talong (eggplanbt), and kalabasa (squash) on my pakbet.

Here's my first attempt of cooking pakbet, it is incomplete but it tasted good. Hubby does not like pakbet because of bagoong.
Behold, this is a censored photo lol. Hubby's humored ran yesterday and did this pose for me hahaha.
Have a nice weekend everyone.

Just remember....

Ok sis mukhang masarap ang kinalabasan ng pakbet mo. Ang cute naman ng shape ng kalabasa na yan.

Marami rin palang generous neighbors diyan sa inyo parang sa probinsya dito sa atin.

John is really funny! lagay mo RatedR yung photo. hehe

Organic veggies! I love the thought of growing your own food. Someday, I will do just that... for now, I only have chilli, basil and salad greens... Your pinakbet looks scrumptious! Well done!

ang gaganda ng veggies, fresh na fresh. at ang upo grabe sa haba. ngayon lang ako naka kita ng ganyang kahabang upo. parang ilang pamiya na pwedeng magulam nyan..ehehe.

Hahahaha... your husband is so funny!

My dad hailed from Ilocos, and the way they cooked pakbet is with bagoong isda. I don't think I have tasted a pakbet using bagoong alamang. I still haven't tasted the butternut squash, may difference in taste ba?

Upo I think is "bottle gourd," but am not sure. That upo sure is very long!

Thanks for hopping by my FTF post. Happy weekends!

Hahahaha! Still can't get over the last photo.

Anyway, my comment is about the food. LOL.

Whenever my nanay wanted us to eat veggies, she'll cook us pakbet / pinakbet. My brother and I love it 'cause of bagoong.

Thanks for sharing! :)

John really has a sense of humor but not in front of the kids please. It is understandable that John will not eat pinakbet because of the bagoong. The solution is to substitute canned sardine like Ligo for the bagoong. It has the same effect but less malansa (can't think of the English word for malansa at the moment). It's good that your children eat veggies. These are good for their bodies. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.
