Canning Tomatoes

After I picked all the tomatoes from the garden, I put it in the box and close it. After several days, most of them were ripe so me and daughter canned them the other day.
My little helper is always ready for action.  She volunteered to clean up the tomatoes as she won't be able to help with the peeling.
After  the tomatoes was peeled and chopped, we boiled it in a pot.  when it was done, we put it in jars.  The fun part for the kids is waiting for the lids to "pop" hehehe.
We made seven quarts of tomato sauce.  I put  some oregano and basil  as I boil it.  These would be tasty for chili and  lasagna.

After the trick or treat, we celebrated Jim's birthday. Happy happy birthday Jim, may you have a healthy and long life ahead.  Below is the ice cream cake we had.
Just remember....

that a little bit of this
and a little dash of that
makes a sumptuous life...

so Spice Up Your Life.

Nice, I've read about this process in a book, pero ngayon ko lang nakita in details. Pwede rin ba yan for salsa? :)

I do miss homegrown tomatoes right off the plants like my mom used to have. I can't grow tomatoes much here in Florida. How nice your daughter wants to help you like that, she's so cute! Your canning looks like a success!

Wow, that's a lot of tomatoes. You can probably get instructions from the internet on how to make tomato puree which you can can and store for a longer period of time. Happy Birthday to Jim. BTW, who's Jim, lol. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.

Good job!
I always hated peeling the tomatoes, so I tried whizzing them in the blender until the skins were just tiny pieces. When they are boiled the air from blending them comes out, so they have to be stirred more, but they can just fine & work well for anything you would put chopped tomatoes in. They are just in smaller bits!

Thanks for the visit!

I have never tried canning our tomatoes from the garden and it is just a waste. I usually just go ahead and make fresh sauce for our pasta. I was afraid that canning these tomatoes would take a long time and a long process. Was yours easy ba mommy? If so, would you mind sharing your recipe? Thanks!
