Plantain Snacks

In the Philippines, we have the cooking banana called Saba. When I came here,  my husband introduced me to plantain, the cooking banana  that is available  here.  I used to make  plantain as turon with jackfruit in it but never tried it like a banana cue, one of the many ways we prepare saba.  Anyhow, I tried it and they loved it even better than the   turon.
To make this buttered  plantain, you will need:

  • 2 plantains
  • brown sugar
  • butter
Procedure:
  • Peel the skin off the banana.  Slice  them in desired thickness.
  • Melt  some butter in a pan in a medium heat
  • Cover the  sliced banana with brown sugar and  cooked it in the butter until it is glazed.
  • Using a thong, pick the cooked banana and stick your bamboo skewers in the middle.  Putting the banana in the skewers  eliminates mess when you eat it.
Plantain banana cue is one of the favorite snacks here at home.  Two plantains makes a lot so what I did was make some turon too out of it and then put it in the freezer.  I baked it the next day and  it was also so yummy!!!
