New Year 2011 Feast - Project 365 # 13

For the past couple of years, we always  celebrate new year at my FIL's home but this year was different.  Hubby mentioned a couple of times that we should celebrate holidays at our home so I thought of starting it on new year.
I made  some bihon, lumpia, puto, BBQ and hubby made a bowl of  fruit salad.
Ms. Burrito  doesn't like Ubi but since I wanted to  experiment with the puto, I added a spoonful of ubi  in the puto mix.  It resulted to a darker puto, when it was done, Ms. Burrito  asked why the color is purple.  I told her that I added some magic to it.  I was surprised that she still likes it even with ube in it.
Hubby love the BBQ I made.  I used the Mama Sita's  marinading  sauce this time.  The only difference  I did is that I boiled the meat instead of marinating it for 2-3 hours because I did not have much time.  It was  really good, can you tell by the look of the  picky  eater?
That was a very nice new year for us.
We even had a company later on.  The Brady's came up at  10 pm and celebrated  New Year's with us.  It was their wedding anniversary too.
Hubby and Ms. Burrito  left and visited  Dad for a while.  Mr. Burrito did not want to go because  he was getting sleepy so we stayed home.  When the two came back, EJ was already sleeping  and the Brady's  were here.
Have a safe and fun weekend everyone.

Hi sis, ubi is made of purple yam, sugar and water.. It is popularly known as ubing halaya in the Philippines. It is really good in halo halo, we always buy a bottle or two at the oriental store.

That was great that you were able to celebrate New Year at home all by yourselves. The food are all Pinoys with your hubby enjoying the pork barbecue. John was right. You should be celebrating New Year at home so that you can be closer to one another the whole year through. Thanks for the post. God bless you all always.
